ABOUT US
EFCC-IC is a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of China, one of several English speaking congregations among 50+ Evangelical Free Churches in Hong Kong. The Evangelical Free Church of China was first planted in 1887 in China by missionaries from the Evangelical Free Church of America, and moved her base to Hong Kong after the Second World War.
We were founded in 1991 through the vision and encouragement of the Evangelical Free Church of China - Tai Koo Shing Church. Pastor Charles Crabtree, an American missionary, served as the first pastor.
In November 1994, we called our first full time pastor, Pastor Paul E Snuffer, who began his ministry in February 1995. We became an independent member of EFCC in 1996 and has since planted an English speaking church in Discovery Bay, Discovery Bay International Community Church, which is also an independent member of EFCC now.
On Pastor Snuffer’s departure, Pastor David J Magee served as pastor from 1998 to 2008. During his time, we moved our worship services to the current location at Lingnan Secondary School, nurtured a a strong mission focus and planted a Cantonese speaking church - Joyous Grace.
Rev. Dr. Barry Davis began serving as Senior Pastor in February 2010. Pastor Barry had ten-plus years of experience in the business world, primarily in the aerospace industry, before entering full time ministry. Prior to IEFC he was an Associate Professor at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Pastor Barry continued to build the church and saw Joyous Grace through to become and independent member of EFCC.
Vincent Kan, a member since the church began and a longtime Elder, is pastor from February 2016.
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
We believe in one true God, Creator of all things and Lord of the universe, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, being true God and true Man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross for the atonement of man’s iniquities, so that man may be delivered from the condemnation and power of sin. He arose from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Father, He is the Advocate and the High Priest interceding for the saints. He is also the Head of the Church, and will come visibly again from heaven to establish His Kingdom and to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, who descended on the day of Pentecost to glorify Christ, convict sinners, grant new birth, and to indwell and empower believers for victorious and holy living, and to unite them into one body, the Church of Christ.
We believe that man was created in the image of God but became spiritually dead because of disobedience to God. Since Adam our forefather sinned, all have become sinners, living under the wrath of God. Only through sincere repentance and acceptance of Christ’ redemption, cleansing by His blood and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can one enter the Kingdom of God.
We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, the Living Word of life, wholly truthful and trustworthy, and the final authority for all Christian faith and life.
We believe that all men will be resurrected, the believers to eternal life and heavenly blessings and the unbelievers to eternal death in hell.
We believe that Satan is the devil, and the source of all evil. He is working in the hearts of disobedient men, and will one day receive eternal punishment.

MISSIONS FOCUS

EFCC-IC has a strong focus on missions, a good portion of our budget is designated for the support of gospel out reach, teaching and equipping ministries. Our members are encouraged to participate in the missions both in and outside of Hong Kong and some 90% have participated in at least one mission project.
Working with other mission and training organizations, we support the provision of biblical training to other churches and organizations in our region. Likewise, we work alongside regional churches to provide training for the churches on how to reach out to respective communities including special sensitivities required for different ethnic groups.
Our members visit a number of women’s prisons in Hong Kong, we support local ministries that reach out to displaced communities and those living in darkness. We also work with the school where we worship in reaching out to the youths and members of the local community.
